Print Checklist

• Contractor/company name and license information are clearly identified.
• Exact roofing product or system is named—not just “new roof.”
• Tear-off, number of existing layers and disposal are addressed.
• Decking replacement allowance or unit price is stated.
• Underlayment type is identified.
• Flashing, valleys, vents, skylights, chimneys and penetrations are addressed.
• Ventilation scope is stated.
• Permit responsibility and fees are clear.
• Solar removal/reinstall responsibility is clear, if applicable.
• Cleanup, haul-away and property protection are included.
• Manufacturer warranty is identified.
• Workmanship warranty length and coverage are stated.
• Deposit and payment schedule are clear.
• Change-order process is explained.
• Exclusions are listed.
• Start timing / estimated duration are addressed.

What if several boxes are unchecked?

That does not automatically mean the contractor is a problem. It means the written scope needs clarification. Ask for the missing information in writing before relying on a verbal assumption.
